Fishing

Mark and Karen invited us out on their boat to go fishing. The kids had never been fishing before and they love to go boating so we were pretty excited.

The kids each got a turn to drive the boat, Noah took full advantage of Captain status and made "announcements".

The kids had a great time fishing, though none of them wanted to put the worm on the hook.

No one caught anything but the fish were definately biting because everytime they reeled in their line more of the worm was eaten away!

We saw turtles and geese on little basking docks and a couple of families of geese followed the boat around until we fed them some bread.

The weather was wonderful and just being on the lake was so relaxing, we all had a great time.

Summer Campfire Wood

We wanted some campfire wood for our backyard ring so I put a post out to the YHSA group. I got several responses from this community of wonderful families. One family had cut down several cedar trees in their yard and needed them removed; it was perfect. We recruited Mark and Karen Lookenbill (and their truck and chainsaws) to help us (Dave) cut the trunks into sections which we then split using the WONDERFUL hydraulic splitter the family had.

We ought to have enough to last campfire season!
